I'm Charles Martin, this is who I am:

         

           Charles Martin, a dedicated community leader and advocate for public education, is running for the position of At-Large District Representative to the Buncombe County Board of Education. Charles's background and experiences underscore his commitment to serving his community and improving educational opportunities for students in Buncombe County. Charles is married to Anesa, and they have two children: one who has graduated high school and another who is currently attending school in the T.C. Roberson district. Charles has deep roots in Buncombe County, having grown up in the Shiloh Community and graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School. He furthered his education at Beulah Heights University.

 

         His professional career has been marked by roles that emphasize community service and support for education. Charles served as the Operations Manager for Home Depot and currently serves as the Pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in the Burton Street Community. Through his leadership at the church, he has implemented programs like the Out-of-School Suspension program by collaborating with Partners Unlimited, which provides crucial support to Buncombe County Schools (BCS) & Asheville City Schools (ACS) students in need, fostering a safe and educational environment.

 

          His commitment to education extends beyond his professional roles. Charles has been actively involved in mentoring students at William W. Estes Elementary School for nearly two years, demonstrating his dedication to supporting young learners. His initiatives, such as the School Recovery program in partnership with Partners Unlimited, have provided essential educational opportunities for students facing challenges like suspension, ensuring they continue their studies and earn necessary credits.

 

          Charles Martin's candidacy emphasizes his vision for a safe, equitable, and healthy public school system in Buncombe County. He aims to close opportunity and achievement gaps while enabling all students to reach their full potential. His policy priorities include supporting teachers, staff, and administrators through thoughtful policy development and fostering positive partnerships between schools, families, and community organizations.

 

          If elected as the At-Large District Representative to the Buncombe County Board of Education, Charles Martin pledges to advocate tirelessly for students, teachers and families. His platform focuses on creating a supportive learning environment where every child can thrive academically and personally. By leveraging his extensive community ties and professional experiences, Charles aims to implement policies that benefit all stakeholders in Buncombe County Schools, ensuring they receive the quality education they deserve.
